MorningStar Editing LLC’s mission—my mission—is to assist you in every phase of writing, from helping your ideas take shape to masterfully editing or proofreading your manuscripts. Let me help you make your writing sing. Contact me and let’s talk about how I can help you with your manuscript.
Working with words is my passion. I believe in each author’s unique voice and helping every writer tell their story in an effective and compelling way. My warm and friendly style, combined with my competency, makes it easy for writers to connect with me. My experience allows me to help authors at many different stages in their writing–from evaluating early drafts of their manuscripts to providing extensive editing or providing a final polish through proofreading. I work with both fiction and nonfiction. I’ve worked with self-publishing authors, authors preparing their manuscripts for submission to agents, and with publishers across the nation and abroad.
MorningStar Editing is owned by me, Cassie Armstrong. I’ve been copyediting and proofreading since 2006. I have always worked with words. Before opening and operating MorningStar Editing in 2007, I practiced proofreading and copyediting while teaching English composition at both the community college and university levels, and as a staff reporter for a weekly business newspaper. This experience has given me the technical know-how to accurately and efficiently edit copy, and it has also given me the ability to teach and share with writers how they can improve their own writing.
I have a Master of Arts in English from California State University, Sacramento, and a Bachelor of Arts in literature from the University of Arizona. Additionally, I am always expanding my horizons and improving my skills. I have taken a number of classes in copyediting, proofreading, marketing, and editing for children offered by the Editorial Freelancers Association; copyediting nonfiction and fiction classes presented by Editorial Bootcamp; and classes in copyediting fiction, cookbooks, and customizing your computer through Editcetera. If asked, I’d be more than happy to provide more information about these classes. I am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), Bay Area Editors Forum (BAEF), Copyediting-L, Publishing Pros, the Professional Editing Network (PEN), and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
